The kitchen also has an electric range, microwave, new stainless steel dishwasher, sink, a very cute "coffee cabinet" for preparing coffee, and lots of counter space and cabinets. Pots, pans, dishes, and cooking and dining utensils are all included with the rental as are sheets and bath towels. There is a little dining area next to the kitchen and it provides a great view of Manistee Lake while dining. A new 4-person dining table is on order and will be in place when the property goes live for rentals on May 3, 2021. (We are currently accepting reservations for any check-in date after May 3.) The living room features new, cozy, and very comfortable furniture and a fantastic view of Manistee Lake via big bay windows. The living room also has a new electric fireplace and a new big screen smart television with live-streaming built-in. Both Netflix and PureFlix are provided free of charge with the rental and guests are welcome to load their own channels / apps on the smart tv for viewing as desired. High-speed Wi-Fi is included with the rental. The cottage has both heat as well as air-conditioning to keep guests comfortable whatever the weather may bring. The cottage also comes with a new washer and dryer! The cottage has its own private lakefront on Manistee Lake, which is an all-sports lake, so motorized boats and jet skis of any kind are allowed. The new owners will be putting in a nice dock on the lake, which will feature a patio section right on the water! Mooring buoys for boats will also be provided, so guests are very welcome to bring their own boats, jet skis, or other water toys and attach them to the mooring buoys or the dock. An outdoor fire ring with chairs for bonfires and s'mores will also be installed by May 3. The location of the property is right in the heart of northern Michigan, so it's really a great location to explore all that northern Michigan has to offer! The cottage is about a 15-minute drive from downtown Kalkaska, which is a cute little northern Michigan town with a nice collection of shops, restaurants, cafes, bars, and a grocery store. Kalkaska County (in which the cottage is located) is regionally famous for lakes, fishing, hiking, boating, outdoor / nature activities, and snowmobiling. (The county is in a "snow belt" section of Michigan and gets a great deal of lake-effect snow.) Snowmobiling trails in the area are readily accessible from the cottage. Skiing and snowboarding are also very popular in the area. Forbush Corner is a great place for nordic cross-country skiing and is only 16.6 miles east of the cottage. Similarly, Mount Holiday provides downhill skiing and snowboarding and is only about 30 miles west of the cottage! The cottage is also only 20 minutes away from Torch Lake, which, with its famous turquoise-colored water, is widely regarded as the most beautiful and popular inland lake in all of Michigan! Torch Lake makes for a fun day trip and additional sites to see. The little town of Alden on Torch Lake is also very charming and enchanting. If bigger city activities are desired, although the cottage is in a very natural and peaceful setting, it is actually only a 45-minute drive from Traverse City. Traverse City is the tourism, entertainment, dining, and financial hub for all of northern Michigan and, in addition to lots of scenic natural beauty associated with its location on Lake Michigan, the city has a wide and wonderful array of shops, restaurants, cafes, museums, and nightlife. We truly believe that this cute little cottage is a wonderful home for a great vacation in beautiful northern Michigan! We cordially invite you to make a reservation today! The lakehouse was built just over 20 years ago and came into our possession (Mike and Ali Cipriano) in March 2017, following a Cipriano family gathering at the Lake in July 2016. We simply fell in love with Starvation Lake. With a 20-year family attachment (Mike’s brother having a cabin just down the way) we decided to look for our own little haven to escape to, and identified the ‘No Nay Never’, settled back off the south end of the lake. We have both worked in the UAE for some years and are presently settled in Dubai. The cabin provides us with a complete contrast to the fast pace of Dubai and the hot, dusty, desert surroundings. It is a place for us to stop and breathe. Because we have spent much of our lives moving from one place to another, we decided to give the cabin a name that reflected our yearning to settle down. We are both from migrant families (Mike of Italian descent and Ali of Irish descent). Our descent, and our past and present lives, led us to one of Ali’s favorite bands (The Dubliners) and one of their most famous songs ‘The Irish Rover’. The song tells of a roving man who decided his days of traveling (and wild shenanigans) are over, and the chorus provides the name: ‘So it’s no nay never, no nay never no more, will I be the wild rover, no never no more’. One day soon we hope to stop roving and return to the cabin to settle and spend our years watching the turtles bask in the evening sun, listening to the bullfrogs and enjoying the sun setting over Starvation Lake. If you’re looking for somewhere to wind down and escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life; a homely place to enjoy gathering with friends and family; or a base from which to explore the all year round beauty of Northern Michigan, look no further than our three-story lakeside property, on the quiet south end of the spring-fed, Starvation Lake. Nestled into woodland, with its own dock, fire pit and decked area over-looking the lake, this recently updated house provides all the amenities for a relaxing stay. The house itself sleeps 7: it has a beautiful galley king size bedroom (sleeps 2) where you can awake to glorious views over the glistening lake. In addition to this, there is a queen bedroom on the first floor, three single beds on the lower level, with additional futon and fold-out sofa on the first floor and basement - providing additional beds for the last minute guest. The first floor provides one bathroom, with shower and bath; a full kitchen with all utensils; and a cozy sitting area where you can end your day seated comfortably around the open fire. The lower level has three twin beds, a couch and entertainment center with a TV. The lower level also provides easy access outdoors with a walkout. The back room in the basement holds the washing machine and dryer. For those who simply wish to relax at the lake, there is plenty to enjoy. The wake restrictions guarantee quiet mornings and evenings for those who wish to read, relax and take in the solitude that this house provides. The lake is renown for its fishing and some of the best Browns in the state. For those looking for a more active getaway, you may wish to swim, kayak and water ski the lake. Starvation Lake is perfectly situated for those who wish to explore the countryside trails on snowmobiles or RVs, enjoy cross-country skiing, biking and hiking. Additional sporting activities can be enjoyed within close proximity: Manistee River for kayaking is just 20 minutes away; Shanty Creek for golf and ski enthusiasts lies 25 minutes from the lake; and it is only a 35-minute drive to Boyne Mountain ski, golf, and zip line water park. Only 45 minutes away from Starvation Lake lies Traverse City, Petoskey, and Charlevoix; all of which provide a range of entertainment, wineries and shopping opportunities. Turtle Creek Casino is an alternative for those who want something a little livelier, beyond the pleasure of sipping a pint at the Hideaway Bar, which lies at the north end of Starvation Lake.

Main floor bathroom has a 5 foot walk-in shower. Additional bathroom upstairs. The outdoor deck wraps around the cottage, has two eating areas and expansive sitting areas. A wide, well lit, multi-level deck and stairway leads down to the dock and small sitting area. Wireless internet available. Most of the cottages are tucked up into the trees in natural settings. At the north side of the lake, there is the popular Hide Away bar, and a party store with a gas station. Much of the surrounding area is state and federal land with snowmobile and RV trails, as well as hiking trails. Our property is over 14 acres with a private road to Sunset Trail, a convenient area to park trailers or extra vehicles. One appreciated feature is the lack of biting insects. The area has sandy soil and the lack of standing water seems to contribute to that feature. No pets, please. Non-smoking only. Our family has enjoyed many years of fun filled, relaxing moments at our cottage. It has often served as a sanctuary for all of us when we needed a "get-away". Our normal check out is Saturday to allow for scheduled cleaning. We look forward to sharing this kind of experience with you.

Cottage (1800 sq. ft.) in Kalkaska, MI
5.1 miles from Manistee Lake
This is a beautiful, family and pet-friendly vacation rental cottage on wonderfully pristine Cub Lake just east of Kalkaska, Michigan! The cottage has 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, and sleeps 9. (Note that we do limit the rental capacity to 8 adults.) It has a huge deck with a gorgeous view of the lake from the hillside on which it sits. There is also a nice propane grill on the deck that is available for guests to use. Two of the cottage's bedrooms also open up to a lovely second floor balcony that has a wonderful view of Cub Lake. The vacation rental includes a boat dock, two kayaks, a paddle board, a canoe, and a paddle boat - all on the property's private lakefront! Cub Lake is a "no wake lake". Pontoon boats are allowed, but other motorized boats are not. Guests are very welcome to bring their own pontoon boat and/or non-motorized watercraft and use the property's boat dock for mooring. Cub Lake is great for kayaking and canoeing and both Cub Lake and nearby Bear Lake are excellent for fishing for bass and bluegill. There is also a very nice fire ring with chairs on the private beach for having bonfires and s'mores on the beach. In the winter, Cub Hill is great for sledding with kids and adults being able to sled from the deck down to Cub Lake on the hill. Inside the cottage, the cottage is about 1800 square feet in size and the 3 bedrooms sleep 7 adults very comfortably. Two of the bedrooms have queen-size beds and the largest of the 3 bedrooms is set-up with 3 twin-size beds. The cottage does not have air-conditioning, but all 3 of the bedrooms have ceiling fans and there are other fans available in the house as well. There is also a den / reading room in the cottage that has a futon in it, which can also sleep 2 adults. The cottage has a nice cozy living room with a flat-screen television. Basic cable television is included (network channels only), but the cottage is equipped with high-speed WiFi and live streaming is available via a Roku device. There is a cute kitchen which is fully stocked with a good supply of cooking and dining utensils, which are all available for guests to use. There is a small laundry area with a top load washer and dryer near the kitchen. The cottage also has a cute dining area (next to the kitchen and living room), with a dining table and seating for 6 adults. The vacation home is beautifully designed around Cub Lake, with the living room, dining room, and two of the three bedrooms all having views of the lake. HOUSE RULES: 1) Pets: This is a pet-friendly vacation rental property and up to 2 dogs are allowed for each stay. There is a pet fee to help us cover the additional cleaning cost associated with pets. (Note that more than 2 dogs are not permitted and pets other than dogs are also not permitted.) 2) Check-in / Check-out Times: To allow us to have the home properly cleaned and prepared for incoming guests, we ask that guests check-out by 11:00 AM and that new guests arrive after 3:00 PM. Check-out prior to 11:00 AM is particularly important as our cleaning personnel normally start cleaning the house promptly at 11:00 AM upon the day of check-out. 3) Noise: For the sake of the neighbors, please keep noise to a minimum. (We have recently received complaints from neighbors regarding noise and keeping noise down is a current point of emphasis at the property.) 4) Towels / Linens: We provide bath towels, hand towels, and washcloths for all guests as well as sheets for the beds, so guests do not need to bring their own. We do not provide beach towels though, so it is suggested that guests bring their own beach towels. 5) Kitchen Supplies: We provide a good supply of cooking and dining utensils for guests to use. This includes a coffee maker, toaster, and salt and pepper. Guests are asked to wash any dishes that they use prior to their departure. 6) Garage: The garage is used for personal storage and is not available for guests to use. 7) Indoor Fireplace: The indoor wood fireplace is also not available for guests to use due to safety concerns. 8) Firewood: A fun and family-friendly fire ring with chairs is provided at the private beachfront for having bonfires and s'mores right down at the lake. We do not provide firewood, but firewood is readily available for purchase at grocery stores and gas stations in the area.

Located on beautiful Log Lake in Kalkaska, Quinn Cabin is just five to ten minutes from grocery stores, restaurants, farm markets, banks, a laundromat, and seasonal festivals like the Trout Festival and Winterfest. For a wider variety of dining and shopping, just 30 to 45 minutes away is Elk Rapids, Torch Lake, Shanty Creek and Schuss Mountain, or downtown Traverse City. Quinn Cabin is also less than 15 minutes from horse trails, three golf courses, and fly fishing on the Manistee River! For a shorter stay, simply relax by the lake, cuddle up on the couch and enjoy the gorgeous lake view, or put on a record and dance with the family before dinnertime. Quinn Cabin is a single story 806 square foot home on a private drive and on private, no-wake Log Lake in Kalkaska, Michigan. The property has plenty of room for parking in the front yard, including space for a small boat or personal watercraft's, travel trailers or snowmobiles. The right side of the front yard also has a new butterfly garden as of Spring 2021. The backyard has a wide staircase that leads down to the lake and solar lights guide the way down to the dock during Spring through Fall evenings. We are also excited to add two new kayaks in the spring of 2021 for even more adventures right out the back door. The wooded land directly across the road from Quinn Cabin is our undeveloped property so it's also available if you have little ones who love to explore. Kalkaska gets a great deal of snow in the winter and Log Lake visitors will likely see snowmobiles and ice shanties on the frozen lake all winter long. The private road is plowed all season, as are the roads in town. The driveway will also be plowed for guests. We are also happy to preset the Nest smart thermostat to your desired comfort level. Just let us know prior to your stay what temperature to set it to for your arrival! There are several options for sleeping arrangements. The master bedroom includes a king size bed, two bedside tables with lamps, and plenty of closet storage space for your clothing, jackets and bags. The second bedroom is part of the original center structure of the cabin, with exposed pine beams and duct work, loft-like pine walls that do not adjoin with the high ceiling, a full size bed and small closet. The cabin also includes a queen sofa sleeper in the living room, a twin daybed on the sun porch (which is not climate controlled) that can convert to a queen or be used as two separate twin beds, and two pack 'n plays for babies or toddlers. The newly updated kitchen includes a refrigerator, oven/stove, new microwave, new toaster oven, new Crock Pot, dual sink with dish rack and drain board, and a convenient coffee bar with a Keurig, drip coffee maker, french press, coffee mugs, coffee k-cups, sugar and powdered creamer. The kitchen also includes spices and condiments for guest use, as well as new dish towels, dishes, cookware and utensils. In addition, there is a large, practical island and plenty of cabinet space for your groceries. In warmer months, there is also a gas grill right outside the front door. The bathroom has a small but new, well-lit tile shower with a dispenser full of body wash, shampoo and conditioner. It also has new flooring, new toilet, new vanity and sink, and new LED-lit mirror. There are plenty of bars and hooks for towels, and during warmer months there is also a clothing line in the front yard for beach towels and bathing suits. The bathroom linen closet is stocked with plush new bath towels, washcloths and bath mats, an iron, a hair dryer, clothes steamer, and other necessities. WiFi is provided for your convenience, so if you are working from home these days, you can work here! The smart TV makes connecting to your favorite streaming networks easy. There is also a Blu-ray player, Crosley record player with built in speakers and Bluetooth capability, a small collection of vinyl records, a small DVD collection, and board games and puzzles for rainy days.
